Pathology/Laboratory

The Pathology Department at Saint Francis offers an array of
on-site testing services. We utilize state-of-the-art instrumentation and have a highly skilled staff available 24/7. In addition to our staff of registered Medical Technologists and phlebotomists, we have three pathologists on site, a qualified histology team, and  secretaries who are beyond compare in efficiency and customer service. Testing capabilities vary from routine screening tests to more specialized testing such as protein electrophoresis. We also have a comprehensive microbiology department operating seven days a week. We're pleased to offer quality services and testing to the Grand Island and surrounding communities right here at home.


We serve as a reference lab for approximately 70 routine clients and more than 200 drug screen clients. Download our Reference Manual for more information.

Education Opportunities:

The Pathology department has served as a clinical site for the University of Nebraska Medical Center Medical Technology program for more than 10 years. Students are able to spend their final clinical year at Saint Francis Medical Center learning theory and operational duties in an exciting laboratory atmosphere. We take great pride in our program and have some of the finest instructors available.
