Student Wellness Center

Mission:

The Saint Francis Student Wellness Center's Mission is to improve young people's access to health services by providing comprehensive, low cost, convenient mental and physical healthcare that will result in a healthier student and reduce absenteeism for illness.

The People Served:

  • Students at Walnut Middle School grades 6-8 who have a signed parental permission form.
  • Students at Grand Island Senior High grades 9-12 who have a signed parental permission form.

Fees:

A competitive fee schedule will be in place for all services provided through the Student Wellness Center. The student's parent or guardian is responsible for payment of fees incurred as a result of utilizing services provided by the Student Wellness Center. The Student Wellness Center will file insurance claims. No child will be denied service because of inability to pay.

Services Provided

  • Well adolescent care and preventative health services
  • Immunizations
  • Acute care
  • Care for chronic illness (asthma, diabetes, seizure disorder, eating disorders)
  • Laboratory tests - throat cultures, monospot, blood tests (CBC, hemoglobin, etc.)
  • Medications (antibiotics, inhalers, decongestants)
  • Mental health services (consultation, assessment, referrals for depression, anxiety, conduct disorder, etc.)
  • Substance abuse services
  • Patient education

Services Not Provided:

  • Second Opinions 
  • Deliveries
  • Abortions
  • Family Planning 
  • Narcotics
  • Dental Services
  • STD Testing

Parental Permission:

The Student Wellness Center will not provide any services to any student without a signed parental permission form. All services will be available to students with the appropriate signed parental permission forms. Consent can be withdrawn by written notice at any time.

Clients' Rights and Responsibilities:

The clients at the Student Wellness Center have the right to receive dignity, respect, privacy, and confidentiality. Clients have the responsibility to be active and informed participants in their healthcare. They also have the responsibility to give accurate and honest personal and health information. Please report any changes in this information to the Student Wellness Center.

Hours and Information:

During the School Year:
  • Monday through Thursday: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm (Closed 11:30 am to 12:30 pm)
  • Tuesday evenings by appointment only
  • Fridays: 7:30 am to 12:30 pm

Summer Hours:

  • Tuesday and Wednesday: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm (Closed 11:30 am to 12:30 pm)
  • Thursdays: 7:30 am to 11:30 am
